For a privacy screen, how far apart would you recommend planting?

You can plant the White Spruce approx. 6-7' apart. If you have the space we recommend doing 2-3 staggering rows.

Are White Spruce Trees tolerant of Black Walnut Toxicity?

No, they are not juglone tolerant. I would recommend spacing 50' away from drip line of walnut tree.

I live in Williamsburg VA. What would be a good evergreen to grow in my zone. The soil is light, sandy. Previous farmland.

You are in Zone 7b the following conifers can be grown in your area: Canadian Hemlock, Colorado Blue spruce, Balsam fir, Fraser Fir, and White pine

Is a 4 inch auger big enough for planting a 4 year transplant?

It should be, but we always recommend deciding when you receive your order. You can also do some root pruning, do not remove more than a 1/3 of the roots. We typically recommend a "shovel full" when planting your transplants.
