What are the chances of getting a blue color or bluish silver color when ordering 2 yr old Colorado Blue Spruce seedlings.
Question by: Neal Ostby on Oct 21, 2020, 11:31 AM
The Colorado blue spruce ranges in color from shades of blues and green to an almost silver color. The color of the spruce is from the waxes that are found on the surface of the needles. The color of the tree is like hair color in humans; the color is passed on by genetics. (Source ndsu.edu) There are specific cultivars you can find that are more "blue" we do not sell those, we sell the plain species.

Will Colorado blue spruce and grow well on the Oregon coast?
Question by: Daniel Cook on Dec 9, 2020, 8:43 PM
I would not recommend Colorado Blue Spruce for your location. The planting zones for the Blue Spruce are zones 2-7, the Oregon coast looks like a zone 8 so it will probably be too warm for the trees to thrive.

Colorado Blue Spruce are susceptible to juglone, so it would be best to plant 50' away from the drip line of the Walnut tree.

I would like to order 1000 of them, I live in south west Tennessee, I would like to know what kind of fertilizer is needed and if any bug spray is needed for my Christmas tree farm.
Question by: David on Sep 26, 2022, 2:35 PM
Hello David, I would contact your local nursery association or Christmas tree growers association as to what type of insects you have first, before you would need to discuss control methods. We do not recommend fertilizing the first year. The goal is to encourage root growth and most fertilizers encourage top growth. It is best to check with a more local source about what types of fertilizer and pest control may be needed. Please let us know if we can help you place an order.

I want to plant the Blue Spruce 2-year seedlings in a pot until they are about 2-3 feet tall. What size pot should I use?
Question by: Paul Bunnell on Feb 19, 2023, 5:12 PM
We do not recommend planting the trees in pots. They do best when planted directly in the ground.
