Should I use tree tubes with these and if so for how long?
Question by: Joe Bonnell on Nov 25, 2018, 8:02 PM
The SunFlex Grow Tube System which we offer is meant specifically for hardwoods. If you have a concern with deer damage, the Spruce and Red Pine are safe, as deer don't care for them unless there is absolutely nothing else for them to eat. As for the White Pine, deer find them to be quite tasty! We recommend caging or fencing. You could certainly use a repellent, instead. We offer Plant Saver and Plantskydd Animal Repellent.

Do you provide placement instructions, for example what plants should be in the back of the windbreak? Also, how far apart?
Question by: Barbara Eckles on Sep 9, 2019, 10:41 AM
Your planting plan will be based upon personal preference as to the look you are trying to achieve. Some people like to do a mixed planting, with the effect of a more natural look. Others prefer to plant each type of tree in an exclusive row. Whatever your preference is, we recommend planting a minimum of two staggered rows. Three staggered rows are even more effective. We suggest planting each tree in your windbreak 8'-10' apart.

What is your suggestion on spacing with this variety pack?
Question by: Garrett Buck on Feb 23, 2020, 6:22 PM
Hello, When planting conifers for privacy and a windbreak, consider planting them in two to three staggered rows of trees. Not only will the privacy screen fill in faster, but staggered rows will give you privacy from every angle with little or no open spaces. Space the trees every 10-12 feet and space the rows the same. In time you will have a living wall that gives you the privacy you want.

Approximately how long before these trees will provide an effective windbreak?
Question by: James on Apr 24, 2020, 11:05 AM
The trees in the Windbreak 100 package are 2-year-old seedlings which are 6-12" in height, above the roots. Most likely it will be at least five+ years for them to be about 6' tall. The trees grow fast but providing an actual windbreak is going to be a few years.
